Atlanta Podiatrists Volunteer For Breast Cancer Awareness Walk |
The Atlanta 2 Day Walk For Breast Cancer leaves many walkers with aching feet, blisters, twisted ankles and other ailments, and this year, doctors from Atlanta Ankle And Foot Centers were there to soothe the pain. Among the volunteers from the Ankle and Foot Center were Dr. Ketan Patel, Dr. Christopher Menke, and surgical tech Joy Hagen. They provided free treatment to the thousands of walkers who poured through the streets of Atlanta to raise money for breast cancer research. The event has raised over $6.6 million dollars since it was founded seven years ago, and involves walking either one or two days. The two day walk totals 30 miles, leaving many walkers sore and blistered. "This is a wonderful event that raises awareness and raises much needed funds for breast cancer research," Dr. Menke said. "We're delighted to participate in the walk and to offer any help that's needed.” Volunteers from the Atlanta Ankle and Foot Centers provided the same high quality service to the walkers that they provide to their patients throughout the Atlanta area. At the Ankle and Foot Centers of Georgia, staff members stay abreast of the most current treatment and concepts in ankle and foot care. Their areas of surgical expertise include diabetic wound and ulcer care, removal of bone spurs, joint replacement surgeries of the foot, correction of hammertoes, and bunion surgery.
